DRAWING BOARD CRITTER by Michael Whelan, week 4 in his Leftovers & Palette Gremlins gallery project.

Caught this little guy running across my drawing table a few months back. He’ll do any calligraphy chores that come my way, and he’s a whiz at opening those bottles of Lagunitas IPA I keep in the garage.

Actually he started out as a nest of scribbly lines that I made trying to get my drafting pen to work. A blob of paint dropped out of the pen and I brushed it with my hand reflexively, smearing it. When I looked at it later I saw something there; it just needed some legs and other details, and a little room to run around. I’d guess he’s about three inches long.
