Michael Whelan has done covers for quite a few famous fantasy novels over the years.  To name a few: the Elric books by Michael Moorcock, the first and last books in The Dark Tower by Stephen King, and most recently the final book in The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.

Coincidentally, we’re working on a bibliography page for the main site that will list Michael’s cover illustrations and major awards by year.  I’ve worked with Michael since the mid 90s, and it still astounds me the body of work he’s produced.  It’s difficult to convey how much he’s impacted the field of fantasy illustration.
