THE BOOK IS DONE…
…and many of them are being hand-delivered by none other than Bob Self and master magician RUDY COBY!!!
They arrived two nights ago near midnight and we launched into a marathon autographing session for the next 24 hours. I signed piles of books, losing count after the first thousand or so. Then everything was carefully packed into the van.
Bob and Rudy are currently zig-zagging across the country, stopping wherever possible to deliver the books to my many Kickstarter fans who have been waiting so patiently.
HUGE thanks to heroic efforts on the part of Bob Self, magician, master publisher and amazing art enthusiast, for making it all happen. And to Rudy for so agreeably lending a massively long—see his videos–hand and arm on this project!

KICKSTARTER UPDATE
Someone wrote to inquire about the availability of BEYOND SCIENCE FICTION, the book companion to Michael Whelan’s exhibition in Riverside, CA last year.
The last time I blinked it was November and I’d just finished my final editorial dive through PDF proofs so I thought I’d check in with Bob Self and Baby Tattoo Books on where we’re at.
The announcement of publication should be coming soon. You’ll find the latest update on Kickstarter.
I’m excited to see this book in print. The quality of images Michael provided is top notch, and I can tell you firsthand that the digital proofs look fantastic. You can see a teaser of the layouts by Mark Berry in the photos attached.
BTW, if you missed out on the Kickstarter, you can still preorder copies.

The event is in Riverside, California where Michael’s exhibition BEYOND SCIENCE FICTION runs until later this month. Thanks to everyone who came out for the tremendous opening reception of BEYOND SCIENCE FICTION this Saturday.
The Riverside Art Museum offers a wonderful space to showcase Michael’s work. If you haven’t had a chance to visit, the exhibition includes over 50 works of illustration and gallery art. The show runs until May 25, 2017 so there’s plenty of time to see it.
