DAW is reissuing the The Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy in advance of the new Osten Ard books by Tad Williams. Fans will probably remember that the original hardcovers featured illustrations of the swords on the spines.
Here are the new covers featuring all new paintings of those very swords by Michael Whelan. Aren’t they amazing?

Michael is currently working on the cover for The Heart of What Was Lost, the next Tad Williams book set in Osten Ard. The novella fits between a new trilogy and Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn.
Publication is currently scheduled for January 2017. From what I’m told, the cover design is supposed to capture the same big book feel as the original trilogy so the illustration is.
