BEOWULF’S CHILDREN (1995) by Michael Whelan, cover for the book by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, and Steven Barnes.
Michael completed this illustration around the time I first contacted him about putting together his original website. But for whatever reason, I never received a scan of it for my digital archive.
While sorting through paintings in studio recently, I was excited to see the title on a storage tag and naturally took the opportunity to correct that omission.
The last photo gives a reference to the size of the painting (36" x 27"). The illustration was executed in watercolor and acrylic on watercolor board.
