NIGHTFROST (2011) by Michael Whelan
Quite often at year’s end Michael paints an image for use on the Whelan family holiday cards, and that was the case with NIGHTFROST in 2011.
The painting began as an experiment on prepared panel surface. Michael liked the speckling effect on the dark background and it turned into a field of stars. He followed where his imagination led and ended up with a very inspired piece.
